    ARTICLE

Increase Click-Throughs on Your Webpages and Emails

If you're reading this article I assume you currently have a website or are considering launching one very soon. An effective website is one that entices user's to visit many pages within your site and ideally allows them to purchase your products and services or easily get more information about your business. This article will focus on ways to make your webpages more effective and ways to influence user's to click on your links. I chose to include Emails in this article too because the same principals apply.

A Picture is worth 1,000 words...
Although I don't think this phrase was written with the Internet in mind, it definitely applies. In general, people have very short attention spans. If your webpages or emails are very text "heavy" you are going to quickly loose the interest of your readers. Substitute images for text descriptions whenever you can. Images make your pages look more interesting and decrease the amount of time it takes your audience to find the information they want.

    Focus on a single message
Every page of your website and every email you send out should focus on one message and one message only! It is important to get a single point across in a clear and concise manner. If you try to combine to many messages on one page you significantly decrease the impact of each individual message.

For example, a single page that is promoting a "buy 1, get 1 free sale," and information about a new product is confusing to the audience. What do you want them to do, take advantage of the sale or learn about the new product? By combining the two messages on one page you are decreasing the chances of them responding to either offer.

Don't make your visitors search for information
Having obvious links to important information on your website is critical to an creating an effective website. If your audience can't find what they are looking for quickly, they are going to leave your website and look somewhere else. Make sure you offer clear menus on every page of your website so visitors to your site don't have to search for information.

I hope you found this article helpful in designing your webpages and Emails. If you would like advice on improving the effectiveness of your website, simply send us an email at:
