Click Here for More Information ARTICLE Traffic vs. Quality Traffic and Hit Conversion By Ken Dennis Webmasters often worry about traffic, they think that if they don’t get enough they aren’t going to make any money. There is a little truth to that, but more importantly is getting good quality traffic. There are many companies who send exit traffic from different websites, or bulk traffic, you know the type of service, we guarantee you 10,000 hits a week or however much you want to pay for. But really, what good are they? You get a bunch of traffic from sites users who didn’t "want" to go to your website, they just got tricked or forced to go to it. The most important part of getting conversions and sales is quality traffic. If you have 100 hits a day, and a 5% conversion rate you are going to do a whole lot better than the person who gets 10,000 hits a day with an almost nil conversion rate. In addition, it’s going to cost you in the long run to pay for additional bandwidth or hosting fees to cover the garbage traffic. If you want to develop a strong and loyal customer base, you are going to need to put quality content online, you are going to need to get in touch with similar websites, and get listed on search engines with keywords that are relevant to your website. If you are going to exchange links, or try to recruit webmasters to link to your website, get sites that are similar in nature. As you build your website, try to be aware of the content of each page, are you keeping a theme going? Try to gear your website to one general topic, health, relationships, computers, try to specialize, so when you do get good traffic coming in, they will find your website a useful resource, not just a spattering of "stuff" with no real direction or aim. Most search engines now are very interested in quality content, they want the people searching to find good websites with relevant information in regards to their web search queries, if you can be that relevant site then your sales and conversions will do far better than your competitor. The true key to running a great website is this: Provide a useful website that real people will want to read. Build your website for people, not for the search engine robots. I’m not saying to ignore your meta tags, titles, and various other little great tidbits of information, but you should be more concerned about how a human will view your website, after all, they will be the ones buying or clicking, not the robots. In the past I shared a resource provided by Overture to determine the number of searches performed for a specific keyword or phrase. While this is a great tool, it doesn’t incorporate Google searches in its results. In this issue, I have included a link to Google’s tool that lets you see the number of searches performed in the Google Search Engine. The Overture tool is nice because it shows a cross-reference of many different engines including MSN, AOL and more. That tool combined with the Google keyword tool included below should provide you a nice summary of 95+% searches performed online.
